Questions covered in this guide
Choose the pattern on the whole wall
Photograph the group of windows from inside and outside, then draw the pattern you want over the image. Decide which lines should align across adjacent openings and whether the pattern changes by room. A small isolated sample can look different when repeated across several windows, so approve the overall arrangement before ordering.
Identify where the pieces sit
Pella offers grilles between panes of glass. It also offers surface-bonded simulated divided lights. Ask the seller to show the exact construction on a sample and explain which surfaces you will clean. Record whether there is a spacer or another element behind the decorative bar. These are product options; their availability and appearance must be checked for the selected series and size.
Make the order unambiguous
Create rows for opening label, pattern drawing, bar width, interior color, exterior color and grille placement. Have the supplier confirm how the pattern is adjusted for unusual sizes and joined windows. Ask whether the grille selection changes the product configuration or ratings shown on the quote. Compare the same glass and operating style when pricing alternatives. If the desired pattern cannot align across the group, request a revised drawing rather than authorizing the supplier to improvise at manufacture.
Approve a documented sample
Keep a marked drawing and the sample identifier with the order confirmation. Ask who resolves a mismatch between the drawing and delivered product before installation starts. Include the chosen grille option in the installed price used for your budget, rather than adding an assumed decoration multiplier to the calculator. At handoff, collect cleaning instructions for the actual grille construction and note the service route if a decorative piece needs attention later.
